HEConnect offers this Full Tuition Scholarship to honor the extraordinary achievements and enduring legacy of Dorothy Johnson Vaughan, Katherine Johnson, and Mary Jackson, trailblazing African-American women who made groundbreaking contributions to the fields of mathematics, engineering, and aerospace at NASA. Their pioneering work not only revolutionized space exploration but also paved the way for future generations of women and minorities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Dorothy Johnson Vaughan made significant contributions as a mathematician and computer programmer, becoming one of the first African-American women to hold a supervisory position at NASA. Katherine Johnson, a brilliant mathematician, played an instrumental role in calculating flight trajectories for NASA's space missions, including John Glenn’s orbital flight. Mary Jackson broke barriers as one of the first African-American female engineers at NASA, helping to shape the development of the aerospace industry.
